Nutmeg was used for centuries, mainly as a remedy for digestive and kidney problems. It is also considered an aphrodisiac.

Extraction: Nutmeg essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of the dried nut from the tree which is grown commercially in Indonesia and elsewhere.
Aroma: Nutmeg has a rich sweet and spicy scent.
Fragrance note: Middle.
Properties: The pure oil is thin, clear and colourless or sometimes a pale yellow. Nutmeg Essential Oil is used in massage to relieve muscular aches and pains, and to improve poor circulation and fatigue.
Uses: Massage, baths and vaporization. To create a warming seasonal vapour to counteract those cold winter evenings, mix with clove and orange.
Blends well with: Bay, Black Pepper, Clary Sage, Clove, Coriander, Cypruss, Geranium, Lavender, Lime, Mandarin, Oakmoss, Orange, Peru Balsam, Petitgrain, and Rosemary.
Caution: Always dilute Nutmeg essential oil to 5% or less in a carrier oil and use cautiously.
