Known as an 'oil of tranquillity' May Chang is recognized for its ability to promote physical relaxation and stillness of mind. Historically the oil from this exotic plant has been blended with Almond Oil and used to perfume the body prior to meditation or prayer, to impart a sense of strength, calm and mental clarity.
Source: Litsae cubeba is grown in China.
Extraction: May Chang essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the small pepper-like fruits from the plant Litsae cubeba Lauraceae. The pure oil is yellow and light in consistency.
Aroma: May Chang has a crisp, fruity, citrus scent with vegetative notes. Similar to Lemongrass or Lemon Verbena.
Fragrance note: Top.
Properties: May Chang essential oil has astringent, antiseptic, stimulant and tonic properties. It has a refreshing and uplifting action making it a useful oil for relieving fatigue and lethargy. It has a tonic effect on the nervous system and can help to provide clarity of thought when you are feeling nervous, stressed, anxious or confused.
Uses: Massage, baths and vaporization.
Blends well with: Basil, Bergamot, Cedarwood, Galangal, Geranium, Ginger, Jasmine, Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Petitgrain, Rosewood, Rosemary Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang.
Caution: May Chang essential oil should always be diluted to 5% or less with a carrier oil before use. It may be slightly irritating to the skin.
