It has traditionally been used to improve minor skin conditions and was burnt to kill germs. It is now mainly used to flavour foods, drinks and toiletries.
Source: Cymbopogon flexuosus, Poaceae is grown in India.
Extraction: Lemongrass essential oil is steam distilled from the dried wild grass Cymbopogon flexuosus, Poaceae.
Aroma: Lemongrass essential oil has a warm, lemony and grassy scent.
Fragrance note: Top.
Properties: Lemongrass is antiseptic, antibacterial, and deodorising.
Lemongrass essential oil is energizing and zesty. Soothing, healing and invigorating. Use with massage to stimulate circulation and ease stiff muscles May also be used as an insect repellent â€“ especially, fleas, tics and lice. Lemongrass essential oil is a great â€˜wake-upâ€™ oil and is especially good for refreshing tired feet. It is also good for balancing and toning oily skin.
Uses: Massage, baths, vaporization and may be added to base emollients.
Blends well with: Basil, Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Coriander, Cypress, Fennel, Geranium, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lemon, Marjoram, Orange, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Rosemary, Tea Tree, Thyme, Vetiver and Ylang Ylang.
Caution: Always ensure proper dilution of Lemongrass essential oil.
