Lemon Verbena Essential Oil Thymus hiemalis
Thymus hiemalis is similar to true lemon verbena (Lippia citriodora) but is safer to use.
Arab civilisations regarded it as an aphrodisiac.
Source: Thymus hiemalis is grown in Spain.
Extraction: The oil is steam distilled from the dried herb Thymus hiemalis.
Aroma: Lemon Verbena essential oil has a sweet, fresh, lemony, fruity and floral scent.
Fragrance note: Top.
Properties: Lemon Verbena essential oil is refreshing, reviving and energising. A very good antiseptic which also has a â€˜pick me upâ€™ effect. If you feel emotionally run down or are suffering the effects of the night before Lemon verbena would be a good oil to choose. It can sooth indigestion and aid relaxation. Lemon Verbena also has a softening effect on the skin and can help to reduce puffiness.
Uses: Massage, baths, vaporization and may be added to base emollients.
Blends well with: Elemi, Lemon, Neroli and Palmarosa.
Caution: Always dilute Lemon Verbena essential oil to less than 5% before application to the skin. It is non-toxic and non-irritant but with possible sensitization in some individuals. This oil is phototoxic and causes skin discolouration when exposed to bright sunlight.
