Source: Styrax tonkinensis comes from the Filippines.
Extraction: Benzoin essential oil is solvent extracted.
Aroma: Benzoin essential oil has a rich, warm, slightly woody scent similar to Vanilla.
Fragrance note: Base.
Properties: It is a very thick golden liquid which is usually diluted in di-Propyl Glycol to make it easier to use. The aroma has an uplifting and soothing effect on the senses. It is often used for dry skin conditions.
Uses: Benzoin essential oil may be added to base emollients to moisturize dry skin and inhaled in a blend by steam bath to sooth respiratory complaints.
Blends well with: Bergamot, Coriander, Frankincense, Juniper, Lavender, Rose and Sandalwood.
Caution: Benzoin may possibly cause skin sensitivity and contact dermatitis.
