Here's why we're doing skincare

After working with essential oils for over two decades, the Abbey Essentials team decided it was time to branch out. 

We were inspired by our range of carrier oils, named because they can be used to ‘carry’ more potent essential oils through the skin barrier during massage. Obtained by cold pressing various nuts, seeds, and fruits, carrier oils contain so many of the natural fatty acids needed to maintain healthy skin. A natural source of antioxidants, they help to trap free radicals (think pollution and sun damage), and provide key vitamins A, D and E. Most importantly, they can carry nutrients deep under the skin, because their composition is so similar to our natural oils. 

People have been using carrier oils for years, whether it’s in the oil cleansing method, or in place of a moisturiser. They’re super effective in their own right, so we've kept our formulas simple. We knew if we could create something around these oils, that enhanced them but didn’t take away from their natural qualities, we’d be onto a winner. 

The My Favourite formulas are made with almond oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, or argan oil. Sometimes a combination of them. You won’t find more than 15 ingredients in any product from this line, and there aren’t long synthetic chemical names to wrap your head around. Hyaluronic acid plays a big part in our lotions - not just for your face, but your body too. Our body products are created to the same standard as our facial skincare - why keep those specialist ingredients for your face alone? 

Anyone can use My Favourite products. They’re soothing, hydrating, and easily absorbed into the skin. They won’t sit heavy on oily skin types, or leave drier complexions unsatisfied. The unique carrier oil construction means active ingredients such as retinol, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin can penetrate deeper layers of the skin. Our dewy cleanser and serum work in tandem, to boost your glow and tackle visible imperfections. 

Natural, vegan, organic, and cruelty-free, our ingredients are kind to you and kind to the environment. Sustainable sourcing is really important to us, and you’ll notice all of our bottles are filled to the top (we hate waste!)
