Sandalwood has long been a favourite perfume ingredient, and the ancient Egyptians, Chinese and Indians used it for incense and embalming.

Source: Most Santalum album oil comes from India, but it is also cultivated in Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

Extraction: Sandalwood Mysore essential oil is extracted from the roots and heart wood of the tree.

Aroma: Pure Sandalwood Mysore essential oil has a deep fruity-sweet, woody scent.

Fragrance note: Base.

Properties: Sandalwood Mysore essential oil is antiseptic, astringent, relaxing, and regarded as an aphrodisiac.

In aromatherapy, it is used to relieve tension, stress and to encourage a restful night’s sleep. It has w warm comforting aroma, with woody fruity notes. Sandalwood is a very moisturizing oil and is especially good for cracked, chapped and mature skin.

Uses: Massage, baths, inhalation, vaporization and compress. A few drops in a hot bath make one of the most soothing sensual soaks that will liberate both mind and body. Inhaled with steam or as a poultice it may help to loosen congestion.
It is particularly good for any patches of rough, dry skin and massages.

Blends well with: Benzoin, Bergamot, Black Pepper, Chamomile, Cistus, Clary Sage, Clove, Geranium, Grapefruit, Fennel, Frankincense, Jasmine, Lavender, Lemon, Mandarin, Myrrh, Neroli, Oakmoss, Orange, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Rose, Rosewood, Tuberose, Vetiver and Ylang Ylang.

Caution: It should be diluted to 5% or less in a suitable carrier oil before application to the skin.
