The ancient Greeks thought fennel conveyed long life, courage, and strength. Their name for fennel was marathrion from maraino, meaning â€œto grow thinâ€. Fennelâ€™s ability to stave off hunger was employed during fasting days in Europe.
Source: Foeniculum vulgare is grown in Italy and Hungary.
Extraction: Fennel essential oil is steam distilled from the ripe fruit of Foeniculum vulgare.
Aroma: Fennel essential oil has a sweet and earthy scent.
Fragrance note: Top to Middle.
Properties: Fennel essential oil is antiseptic and calminative, stimulates digestion and encourages the detox process.
Uses: Massage, baths and vaporization.
Blends well with: Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cardamom, Cypress, Dill, Fir, Geranium, Ginger, Grapefruit, Juniper, Lavender, Lemon, Mandarin, Marjoram, Niaouli, Orange, Pine, Ravensara, Rose, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Tangerine, Ylang Ylang.
Caution: Always dilute Fennel essential oil to less than 5% before application to skin. Do not use in instances of endometriosis, prostatic hyperplasia or eostrogen dependent cancers. Avoid during pregnancy.
